Welcome to My Blog

Speaking Truth, and Seeking Justice for Men

Hi, I’m Arnold Barrett. I’m a therapist, a member of my community, and—like so many others—I’ve been through the painful experience of being falsely accused. My story, though uniquely mine, is not an isolated case. It’s part of a much larger issue—one that many men experience but few feel safe enough to talk about. That’s why I started this blog.

Here, I’ll explore topics that are difficult, uncomfortable, and often ignored: false accusations, the erosion of due process, the stigma men face when they choose to fight for their integrity, and the long-term damage that a single accusation—true or false—can inflict on a person’s life and livelihood. I’ll also dive into deeper discussions about the human condition, the way hurt people hurt others, and why society is often quick to demonize rather than seek the truth.

Some of these posts will be deeply personal, drawn from my own experiences and those of others who have been through similar battles. Others will be broader discussions about justice, integrity, and the ways we can work toward a system that protects both victims of crime and the wrongfully accused.

Above all, this blog is about starting conversations—conversations that many men don’t feel safe enough to have. If you’ve ever felt silenced, dismissed, or unfairly judged, this space is for you. I encourage you to engage, share your thoughts, and, if you feel compelled, tell your story.

Let’s break the silence together

Tools of my trade

One of the methods I use to develop my blog ideas, and also in my therapeutic work with clients, is cross-writing. This technique allows me to tap into different parts of my mind—my adult self, my inner child, and even what I sometimes feel is my higher power. Writing with my dominant hand represents the logical, structured side of my thoughts, while writing with my non-dominant hand allows a different, deeper voice to emerge—one that speaks with raw honesty and uncensored emotion.

Through this method, I’ve uncovered some powerful themes that I want to explore here:

  • The way society views nudity and how it weaponizes it to shame and punish people.
  • How deeply wounded people often lash out at others, creating cycles of pain and false accusations.
  • The fact that courts and institutions often fail to acknowledge the damage caused by false allegations.
  • The need for men to have spaces where they can openly discuss their struggles—without fear of judgment or shame.
  • The role of integrity in our society, and what happens when those in power refuse to uphold it.

These are not just abstract concepts. They are real issues that affect real people every day. And they are worth talking about.

The story that wasn’t told

When I was accused of indecent exposure, my name was dragged through the mud before I had the chance to defend myself. The accusation alone was enough to make front-page news, to turn heads when I walked down the street, and to cause a significant drop in my private therapy practice. People who once trusted me suddenly looked at me with suspicion.

But when my case was dismissed—when it was ruled that what I had done wasn’t a crime—there was barely a mention of it in the same newspapers that had so eagerly published the accusation. The damage had already been done.

This is the reality for countless men who face false accusations. In our culture, an accusation is often treated as a conviction, and once someone is branded with that kind of stigma, it rarely fades. Even when the truth is revealed, it doesn’t hold the same power as the initial lie.

I am not writing this blog because I want sympathy. I am writing it because I know I’m not alone.

I’ve heard too many stories from men who have been through the same thing—men whose lives were upended by an accusation that was later proven false. Men who lost jobs, relationships, reputations, and even their own sense of self-worth.

This is why I write.

I write for the men who are still afraid to tell their stories.
I write for those who have been demonized without evidence.
I write for the truth.
